Ellington supports philanthropic involvement in order to make a positive impact in our community.

Our Mission

Ellington is committed to corporate social responsibility. We believe that the implementation of ESG policies benefits our employees, supports long-term financial performance, and makes a positive impact on society and the environment.

ESG Principles

Responsible Investing

Incorporate ESG principles into investment decisions as both a moral responsibility and prerequisite to sustainable returns over the long-term

UN PRI

As a signatory of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI), Ellington is actively working to standardize ESG reporting and implement ESG principles in all aspects of our business.

Lending Programs

Ellington facilitates home ownership and stability within underserved communities through its lending programs, which provide capital to the residential housing market, individual homeowners and multifamily operators, and consumers who do not have access to traditional financing for home ownership.

Secondary Market Trading

Ellington considers ESG factors in the purchase and sale of securities on the secondary market and actively monitors a range of relevant ESG metrics across asset classes.

Corporate Governance

Model best practices of corporate governance for the benefit of all stakeholders

Investor Transparency

Consistent reporting, including quarterly transparency reports by fund administrators.

Independent Directors

Each of Ellington’s public companies and commingled master funds has independent directors that meet regularly.

Strong Internal Oversight

Robust risk and operational oversight formalized via various committees and an internal audit department with key reporting channels to independent boards; significant alignment of interests with investors through large GP investments in our funds.

Community Engagement

Give back to the communities in which we live and work

Academic Opportunity

As a partner to Attollo Prep, we support students from diverse backgrounds in their pursuit of academic achievement and empowerment. We have hosted students onsite in NYC to offer insights about careers in finance and provide courses from introductory programming to entrepreneurship, with the goal of continuing to hire Attollo alumni as both interns and full-time employees.

Corporate Initiatives

Ellington encourages employees to donate to non-profit organizations through a gift-matching program and the firm’s hosting of an annual food drive for local food banks (Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County and City Harvest in New York City).

Charitable Giving

For more than 28 years, our firm and employees have prioritized giving back to the communities in which we live and work by supporting a variety of non-profit organizations including targeted efforts to support diversity initiatives.

Sustainability

Promote and institute practices that minimize our environmental impact

Our Locations

Our New York office has received a number of environmental certifications, including LEED Gold and ENERGY STAR, designating it as one of the most energy efficient buildings nationwide. Additionally, all of our offices are located in close proximity to transit hubs, which, along with employer-provided benefits, incentivizes employees to use public transport.

Office Practices

While we recognize that this is an ongoing effort that will require adjustments over time, we presently use ENERGY STAR certified desktops, monitors and printers; utilize motion sensor-enabled lighting and cooling; employ green kitchen products and cleaning supplies; and maintain office water coolers rather than purchasing plastic water bottles.

Human Capital

Instill a unified culture that values diversity of experience and the well-being of people

Promoting Diversity

Ellington believes that a diverse and inclusive work environment is essential to the long-term success of our firm, and is committed to enhancing diversity by recruiting, training, and promoting employees from underrepresented backgrounds. As part of this effort, we have engaged an external recruiter who specializes in women and minority recruiting on college campuses and supported employees by sponsoring affinity groups and other networking opportunities.

Professional Development

Ellington offers a mentorship program to connect newer employees with more senior personnel and hosts regular “lunch & learn” seminars with portfolio managers and department leaders to give all employees an opportunity to understand the firm’s various strategies and departments. Ellington sponsors employee engagement events and reimburses employees’ professional continuing education fees (e.g. CFA Program).
