Ellington Names Thomas M. Larkin, Chief
Operating Officer,
Paul A. Asaro, Chief Financial Officer
Old Greenwich, CT, February 4, 2004 - Ellington
Management Group LLC announced that Thomas Larkin has joined the
firm as Chief Operating Officer, and that Paul Asaro has been named
Chief Financial Officer, reporting to Mr. Larkin. Ellington is a
private investment management company specializing in fixed income
relative value strategies, with an emphasis on the mortgage-backed
securities and asset-backed securities markets. In their new positions,
Mr. Larkin will oversee most of the operational and financial functions
of the firm and Mr. Asaro will be responsible for all accounting
and financial reporting.

and for our investors that we continue to enhance our infrastructure.”
Mr. Larkin has over seventeen years of experience in the financial
services industry with a primary focus in the investment management
business. Since 1997, he has served as Chief Financial Officer of
Resurgence Asset Management LLC, an investment advisory firm specializing
in financially distressed companies. From 1992 to 1997, he was Controller
of Concord International Investments Group LP. Mr. Larkin started
his career at Ernst & Young LLP. He holds a Bachelor of Science
in Accounting from Boston College.
Paul Asaro has been with Ellington since 1997, initially as Chief
Financial Officer of Ellington’s real estate finance affiliate
Titan Management, and most recently as Ellington’s Controller.
Carol Calhoun had been Ellington’s Chief Financial Officer
since the launch of its first fund in 1995. “My time with
Ellington has been exceptional. The time has come for me to explore
new challenges and opportunities in my career. I was proud to be
a part of the management team, and I believe the firm is well-positioned
for the future,” said Ms Calhoun.
Michael Vranos noted that “Carol has been with us virtually
since our inception, and has been a key factor in our growth and
success over the years. She has also done a terrific job over the
past several months in transitioning Paul Asaro into the role of
Chief Financial Officer, so she leaves us in great shape, for which
we are additionally thankful. We will miss her both personally and
professionally, and we know that she will succeed in all her future
endeavors.”
Ellington was founded by and is managed by Michael Vranos, the
former head of MBS trading at Kidder Peabody. Ellington is composed
of 46 professionals, including eleven Managing Directors. Ellington
and its affiliates currently manage approximately $1.9 billion in
hedge fund capital and approximately $2 billion in Collateralized
Bond Obligations.
