Ellington Names Thomas M. Larkin, Chief Operating Officer,
Paul A. Asaro, Chief Financial Officer

Old Greenwich, CT, February 4, 2004 - Ellington Management Group LLC announced that Thomas Larkin has joined the firm as Chief Operating Officer, and that Paul Asaro has been named Chief Financial Officer, reporting to Mr. Larkin. Ellington is a private investment management company specializing in fixed income relative value strategies, with an emphasis on the mortgage-backed securities and asset-backed securities markets. In their new positions, Mr. Larkin will oversee most of the operational and financial functions of the firm and Mr. Asaro will be responsible for all accounting and financial reporting.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Tom join our company as we move into the next phase of our growth and institutionalization,” stated Michael Vranos, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ellington. “Tom’s breadth of knowledge, experience, and management skills will allow our portfolio managers and our research and technology personnel to continue to focus on what they do best. As we carefully grow our assets under management over time, it is critical for us and for our investors that we continue to enhance our infrastructure.”

Mr. Larkin has over seventeen years of experience in the financial services industry with a primary focus in the investment management business. Since 1997, he has served as Chief Financial Officer of Resurgence Asset Management LLC, an investment advisory firm specializing in financially distressed companies. From 1992 to 1997, he was Controller of Concord International Investments Group LP. Mr. Larkin started his career at Ernst & Young LLP. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Boston College.

Paul Asaro has been with Ellington since 1997, initially as Chief Financial Officer of Ellington’s real estate finance affiliate Titan Management, and most recently as Ellington’s Controller.

Carol Calhoun had been Ellington’s Chief Financial Officer since the launch of its first fund in 1995. “My time with Ellington has been exceptional. The time has come for me to explore new challenges and opportunities in my career. I was proud to be a part of the management team, and I believe the firm is well-positioned for the future,” said Ms Calhoun.

Michael Vranos noted that “Carol has been with us virtually since our inception, and has been a key factor in our growth and success over the years. She has also done a terrific job over the past several months in transitioning Paul Asaro into the role of Chief Financial Officer, so she leaves us in great shape, for which we are additionally thankful. We will miss her both personally and professionally, and we know that she will succeed in all her future endeavors.”
